The top-tier journal in the field of structural engineering has a long history and has published numerous classic papers. However, its impact factor is not high and it is classified as a third-tier journal by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Moreover, the review process takes a very long time (it can even be calculated in years), which is not cost-effective in this fast-paced era.

First time submitting to JSE, my initial thought was hoping that if they were to reject my submission, they wouldn't take too long. I didn't expect it to be accepted in the end.

This journal has extremely high requirements for the innovation of papers. It is best to include an influential American or Canadian author in the paper, which would increase the chances of acceptance. Additionally, this journal is only in the second tier of SCI ranking, while even lower-quality journals like JCSR can make it to the first tier. It is truly unfair, and I hope that my doctoral national scholarship won't be affected by JSE's ranking.

As a civil engineer, I have to say that in my opinion, the top two journals in the industry are JSE and EESD. The peer review process is very rigorous, and the questions raised directly address the core issues. However, it is true that the review period is quite long. I was fortunate enough to have one of my papers accepted, and I hope everyone else has a smooth submission process as well.

I submitted three articles in 2019 to 2020, one got rejected, and two got accepted after revision. It is a very authoritative journal in the field of structure, and it is highly recognized at home and abroad. It is very rigorous, and sometimes the editors may be too cautious and easily reject manuscripts. The review cycle is really long.
