Just give up quickly, this editor is not thinking straight. I had the same issue as you the first time, asking for additional discussion and clinical discussion. After a week, they told me they needed larger images, that the font was too small. So I went back and waited another week, only to be rejected outright by the editor. It's possible that the EIC assigned the paper to someone who is completely unfamiliar with your research topic...

Received on 16 January, the first review process took over 6 months, with a reminder sent in between. After the revision, three reviewers provided feedback, with over 30 suggestions from the first reviewer. The manuscript was majorly revised on 19 September and minorly revised on 20 October, eventually being accepted on 2 December.
