Optical and Quantum Electronics provides an international forum for the publication of original research papers, tutorial reviews and letters in such fields as optical physics, optical engineering and optoelectronics. Special issues are published on topics of current interest.

Optical and Quantum Electronics is published monthly. It is concerned with the technology and physics of optical systems, components and devices, i.e., with topics such as: optical fibres; semiconductor lasers and LEDs; light detection and imaging devices; nanophotonics; photonic integration and optoelectronic integrated circuits; silicon photonics; displays; optical communications from devices to systems; materials for photonics (e.g. semiconductors, glasses, graphene); the physics and simulation of optical devices and systems; nanotechnologies in photonics (including engineered nano-structures such as photonic crystals, sub-wavelength photonic structures, metamaterials, and plasmonics); advanced quantum and optoelectronic applications (e.g. quantum computing, memory and communications, quantum sensing and quantum dots); photonic sensors and bio-sensors; Terahertz phenomena; non-linear optics and ultrafast phenomena; green photonics.

It is very very slow journal. We sent paper in January and received response in June. They says the paper is not suitable for the journal. They can decide that in a six months.

Posted on November 10, 2021, major revision on February 12, 2022, acceptance on April 15, 2022, overall it took nearly half a year, the review process was very strict with four reviewers. If you are in a hurry to graduate, it is not recommended to submit. If you have plenty of time, you can consider it. The impact factor in optics is still very good.

Article on the direction of metamaterial absorbers, the review process is relatively slow, and there are five reviewers, which surprised me. One of the reviewers raised 8 questions and suggestions. They read the article very carefully and supplemented a lot of theoretical research. After making revisions, I had to wait for another one or two months before receiving the acceptance notification. Although the journal's impact factor is not great, the review process is exceptionally rigorous. The reviewers are more professional compared to many low-quality journals in the 4th tier, and it feels like they have stricter quality control. If you are in a rush, I do not recommend submitting to this journal as the processing efficiency is relatively low. However, the publication speed is quite fast. If you have time and want to improve your abilities through the reviewers' questions, you can consider it.

The manuscript was submitted in the mid-August, two months was given for major revision in the mid-September, and it was accepted after revision. It took just three months from submission to acceptance. Now the review speed and the editor processing speed of Optical and Quantum Electronics has been improved.

has recently contributed a few articles, and the speed is much faster. It is the end of the review in 1-2 months.The editors sent emails saying that OQE reforms have greatly shortened the review and publication cycle.Although OQE is not high in impact, it is still a classic journal.
