A few years ago, the review process for this journal was quite fast. The fastest time was 20 days from submission to acceptance, and the longest was only 50 days. The editors were quite friendly, from what I experienced. Is it really so slow now? I just checked and found that it is in JCR Zone 2 in the WoS classification. This long-standing friction journal of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers is actually highly recognized in the United States, comparable to Trib Ini over a decade ago. However, its database is too expensive, many schools cannot afford it, and it is difficult to cite articles from it. Secondly, ASME's database has strong anti-piracy measures, making it hard to find its articles on websites like Scihub. As a result, the impact factor of this journal has not increased in recent years and has even declined significantly, giving the impression that it is stubbornly refusing to adapt to the current trends, or perhaps it is not willing to compromise for the sake of its impact factor. Many journals from Elsevier are continuously changing and reforming to cater to Chinese readers, even inviting many Chinese editors, and in recent years, their impact factors have indeed increased significantly

Confirmed acceptance 1 month ago, after submitting the final version of the paper, there was no communication. They keep asking me to submit a copyright confirmation, but the link they sent me has already expired... Submitted in May, received the first review comments after one month, given two weeks to make revisions. Received the second review comments after one month, made further modifications, and received the acceptance notification one week later. The whole process took exactly three months. Both the associate editor and the reviewers provided very professional feedback, greatly improving the quality of the article. It was a fantastic submission experience.

I specialize in composite material friction, and if the experiments are conducted well, it can be considered to submit to an international friction journal, which is also good. However, in comparison to international standards, the impact factor of this journal is slightly lower for us in China.

I think this journal is not really about tribology. There are few journals in tribology, such as Tribology Letters, Tribology International, and Tribology Transaction. The review speed is very slow and only after 6 months will you find out what the decision is.
