Far beyond POF, the recognition of POF in the field of fluid mechanics is now very low, due to the rapidly expanding submission volume and extremely high self-citation rate. If you are not in the fluid field and do not care about industry recognition, then POF has a very high cost-performance ratio.

The first review took a month and a half, with major revisions (two positives and one negative, all three opinions hit the nail on the head);
A lot of additional content had to be added, almost like starting over, with a two-month deadline set, and an extension of one month requested from the editor;
The revised manuscript was submitted three months later;
A month and a half later, major revisions turned into minor revisions (the expert with the negative opinion told the editor they had no objections to publication, but the first review opinions were retained, and the editor approved);
In summary: it felt like giving up after receiving the first review opinions, but thankfully managed to persevere in the end. While major revisions were painful, as long as opportunities are given, one should not give up.

Sharing a confusing matter, the latest JFM submission discusses the energy and scalar spectra of buoyancy-driven flow and electrically-driven flow, with the editor being Davidson.
One first reviewer, four reviewers, one acceptance, two major revisions, and one rejection. The editor rejected it, and the issues were more focused on the presentation than the content.
After two months of modifications, it was resubmitted, with Davidson still being the editor. However, it was directly rejected on the grounds that the submitted content did not belong to fluid mechanics.
I wonder if any colleagues have had similar experiences or understand the reasons for this?

Last year submitted JFM Rapids, received reviews a month later, three reviewers, one positive, one negative, one neutral, and was ultimately rejected outright. Reluctantly resubmitted to POF.
This year made a second attempt (JFM Papers), a year and a half of work, submitted in mid-August, received reviews in mid-October, three positive reviews, only given one month to make revisions, minor revisions submitted in early November, now awaiting the results.
JFM Rapids require highly innovative results but do not require complete systematic integrity. It was pointed out that our rapid submission was rejected because the problem was not clearly described (rapids require 10 pages or less). Additionally, it is said that three positive reviews are required for a rapid to be accepted.
JFM Papers aim for systematic integrity, with innovation being essential as well, mostly long articles. Even if there is one negative review, there is still a chance.
In conclusion, the reviewers at JFM are all top-notch, they really understand their stuff!
