IET Renewable Power Generation (RPG) brings together the topics of renewable energy technology, power generation and systems integration, with techno-economic issues. All renewable energy generation technologies are within the scope of the journal.

Specific technology areas covered by the journal include:
Wind power technology and systems
Photovoltaics
Solar thermal power generation
Geothermal energy
Fuel cells
Wave power
Marine current energy
Biomass conversion and power generation

What differentiates RPG from technology specific journals is a concern with power generation and how the characteristics of the different renewable sources affect electrical power conversion, including power electronic design, integration in to power systems, and techno-economic issues. Other technologies that have a direct role in sustainable power generation such as fuel cells and energy storage are also covered, as are system control approaches such as demand side management, which facilitate the integration of renewable sources into power systems, both large and small.

The journal provides a forum for the presentation of new research, development and applications of renewable power generation. Demonstrations and experimentally based research are particularly valued, and modelling studies should as far as possible be validated so as to give confidence that the models are representative of real-world behavior. Research that explores issues where the characteristics of the renewable energy source and their control impact on the power conversion is welcome. Papers covering the wider areas of power system control and operation, including scheduling and protection that are central to the challenge of renewable power integration are particularly encouraged.

The journal is technology focused covering design, demonstration, modelling and analysis, but papers covering techno-economic issues are also of interest. Papers presenting new modelling and theory are welcome but this must be relevant to real power systems and power generation. Most papers are expected to include significant novelty of approach or application that has general applicability, and where appropriate include experimental results. Critical reviews of relevant topics are also invited and these would be expected to be comprehensive and fully referenced.

Have any friends here ever published in this journal? It's been 2 and a half months since my article was accepted and I haven't received any follow-up emails regarding copyright or payment. The status on the official website still shows "complete final file updates". When I email the admissions department for inquiries, all I get are template responses. Does anyone know what to do in this situation?

It's too trashy, a waste of time and energy. I would not recommend this journal to anyone. One reviewer said the manuscript was good, and I made changes according to the second reviewer's request, but it still got rejected. Shocked me for a hundred years, what was Associate Editor Chua KJ thinking! Speechless! I will never submit to IET again!

The reviewers are not professional at all. Do they actually understand the algorithm research in this field? The associate editor followed the opinions of the reviewers. One of the reviewers had no comments, and the associate editor also had no comments. The paper was rejected simply because the other reviewer's shallow and superficial comments were not thoroughly understood. This is a trash journal.

23.03.09 After more than 6 months, it is finally decided to withdraw the submission.
The decline of IET is really not without reason, slow review process, expensive fees, editors not responding to emails... Goodbye! Hope to never see it again.

Summary: Average quality, responsible journal editors, low impact factor, easy submission process. Submitted to TII and got rejected after 7 months due to lack of experiments. Submitted to IET RPG to fulfill graduation requirements after conducting experiments. First review took over a month with minimal core content modifications. Accepted after second review, taking a total of 3 months, with a low impact factor.

The impact factor of IET RPG is much higher than that of IET Power Electronics and IET GTD, and it should be considered the most influential journal of IET in the power field, which is much difficult to be accepted, with at least 5 reviewers for the first review. The current manuscript processing speed of IET RPG has been improved.

Five reviewers for the first review and 3 reviewers for the second review. The experts in the second review are not the same as the firs round, and it is not easy to get accepted. Unlike many journals with few reviewers, it is easy to take advantage of it. The demanding is quite high. 17-08-2018, submitted; 08-12-2018, first review revision; 15-01-2019, major revision; 22-02-2019, minor revision; 20-03-2019, accepted.
