The speed is incredible, with fast review, publication, and indexing. The only drawback is that it currently does not have an impact factor or category. The first impact factor is expected to be released in June next year, and the category is unknown, possibly around November-December next year. Previously, there was no page charge, and there was an option to apply for exemption when submitting a manuscript. Now they have started charging page fees, but I applied for exemption and it was easily approved. However, it might become more difficult to get exemption from page charges in the future, possibly due to being a new journal. Its positioning should be higher than RSC Advances but not as high as JMCA-C, somewhere in between the two.

The EES review was rejected and the editor suggested submitting to MA. Approaching graduation, I don't want to argue with EES and accept the transfer. All three reviewers were highly positive and accepted, and I received a cover invitation. The journal process is fast, indicating that the editor wants to develop MA vigorously. Currently, the accepted papers are mainly focused on review, and research is relatively difficult. It is expected to have the first IF in early 2023, and I heard it was about 7.5 before, but now it should be close to 7, not as high as rumored. The journal has a relatively new positioning and requires high innovation, not like RCS Advances which is open access.

I think the first reviewer's comments will either be a rejection or minor revisions. Anyway, that's how I see it. The suggestion made by JMCA to transfer was considered good by the editor. The name of the journal is also good and has potential, so it was directly transferred. The editor just returned from abroad and is not aware of the importance of IF in China. Therefore, this article can be considered wasted. Although I have written quite a few articles, it still hurts to waste one. In order to maintain a good relationship with the editor, I will consider it as a learning fee. However, I have high hopes for the potential of this journal. The review process was quick, with minor revisions requested within a month and acceptance on the same day the revised version was submitted.

Currently, it has not been included in SCI. The editing speed is fast. I believe it should be considered a sub-journal of the JMC series, and I hope the impact factor can meet the standard.

First-principles calculations, the manuscript was transferred to JMCA, the first review took about two weeks, with two reviewers, and after major revisions, it was accepted in a little over a month. Overall, Mater. Adv. has a high efficiency and is APC-free until mid-2022. The overall quality of the articles in the journal is slightly lower than that of the JMC series but higher than RSC Adv.
