Therefore, I didn't make major changes to the initial draft as long as it was understandable. I thought the language was a bit verbose, but I didn't make significant changes to the wording. However, during the first round of review, an expert pointed out hundreds of grammar, typing, and fluency errors, suggesting that we seek professional translation services to improve the language. Our team, relying on my writing skills in English, which I believe are not inferior to native speakers, has never sought professional English editing before, and this time was no exception. After revising our scientific questions and responses, I critically reviewed the entire text with a strict spirit, and some paragraphs were completely transformed. After three days, it went into the "under review" stage. However, after 1.5 months, it was directly rejected. I didn't understand why the experts' feedback only suggested minor revisions. Then, the editor recommended a toxicology-related journal that was not an SCI (Science Citation Index) journal. After rejecting the transfer, it was directly rejected.
