Comprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety (CRFSFS) is one of the peer-reviewed on-line journals of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT). It has been published since 2002 (www.ift.org). Review papers provide in-depth coverage of a narrowly defined topic on any food science or food safety aspect, including nutrition, engineering, microbiology, sensory evaluation, physiology, genetics, economics, regulations, and history. A typical review embodies careful assessment of all pertinent studies (weaknesses, strengths, discrepancies in findings) so that insightful, integrative interpretations, summaries, and conclusions are presented. For either an unsolicited or an invited manuscript authors should submit to the Scientific Editor a suitable title, a brief outline, and a short statement describing the importance of the topic and how the presentation will advance food science and food technology

Currently, the status in the Scholar One system is still "Under Review" with the first letter capitalized. The EOS lines are Editorial Office, IFT and Camire, Mary Ellen, which indicates that it is probably in the external review stage. Waiting continues

My status on SO also changed a few times in the first few days after submitting, going through the editorial selection process, and eventually becoming EOS with the editor's name and IFT as lines, with the status remaining as Under Review unchanged

Just a heads-up, for submissions made through the new system on 3.13, it directly shows as "under review." On the ScholarOne system, it displays EOS as Editorial Office IFT, EOS: Camire, Mary Ellen, with the status showing as "Under Review." Can you confirm if this has actually been sent for review or is it still in the hands of the editor?

Submission letters are now required at the beginning of your manuscript. Authors should explain how their review adds new and important information to the field and describe how their manuscript differs from other reviews on the same general topic published in the past three years
