Foods (ISSN 2304-8158) is an international, peer-reviewed scientific open access journal which provides an advanced forum for studies related to all aspects of food research. It publishes reviews, regular research papers and short communications. Our aim is to encourage scientists, researchers, and other food professionals to publish their experimental and theoretical results in as much detail as possible or share their knowledge with as much readers unlimitedly as possible. There is no restriction on the length of the papers. The full experimental details must be provided so that the results can be reproduced. There are, in addition, unique features of this journal:

Ÿ manuscripts regarding research proposals and research ideas will be particularly welcomed
Ÿ electronic files or software regarding the full details of the calculation and experimental procedure, if unable to be published in a normal way, can be deposited as supplementary material
Ÿ we also accept manuscripts communicating to a broader audience with regard to research projects financed with public funds

Submitted on January 12, 2024, under review on the same day.
Returned for major revisions on February 6, with three reviewers and a 10-day deadline; requested a 10-day extension for the Lunar New Year, revised by February 24.
Returned again on February 29 for major revisions, with a 5-day deadline and two reviewers: one accepted the revisions, the other requested additional methodological details; revised by March 4.
Accepted on March 8, and final proofreading completed on March 12

There are three reviewers, one of whom disappeared before completing the review, and another one reviewed emotionally. The assigned editor was not responsible enough. Overall, I am very disappointed with this journal

I submitted an article last year, and the review process was fast, taking about a month. The two reviewers were very helpful, and the editor gave major revisions, which were quickly made and accepted. It took about 40 days from submission to publication. Everything was great except for the open access fees

There is no need to say about the speed. The manuscript was submitted on July 4th and the comments from three reviewers were received on the 20th. The comments from the fourth reviewer were received on the 21st. A total of four reviewers provided 44 comments for major revisions, and we were given 10 days to make the changes. The revised manuscript was returned on the 27th and accepted on the afternoon of the 28th. There were some minor issues due to personal reasons in between, but the assistant editors quickly helped resolve them. The questions raised by the reviewers were very professional, and I had a bit of a headache while making the changes. Luckily, the outcome was good, and I will consider submitting again in the future.

Recording the experience of submission:
12.13 submission
12.14 pending view
12.14 under view It was really fast to send it for external review. There is also an article in FC that has been there for a month and is still "With editor."
12.30 Pending minor revisions Two reviewers have returned their comments, uploaded on 12.23 and 12.29 respectively, both suggesting minor revisions. However, the Contact editor mentioned that if new comments come during the revision process, they should also be considered.

Overall, the speed is faster than any Elsevier journal I have encountered, and it seems like it has not been affected by the Christmas and New Year holidays?

The article processing charge is already 2200CHF, and there is news that it will increase to 2400CHF later. However, authors who have published in this journal can enjoy a 20% discount if they submit again after January 1st. It is necessary to inquire with the editor in advance.
