Trends in Food Science & Technology is one of the premier international peer-reviewed journals publishing critical reviews and commentaries of current technology, food science and human nutrition. Its role is to fill the gap between the specialized primary journals and general trade magazines by focusing on the most promising new research developments and their current and potential food industry applications in a readable, scientifically rigorous way.

Topics include new or novel raw materials including bioactive compounds, ingredients and technologies; molecular, micro- and macro-structure; new developments in food engineering; rapid techniques for online control; novel processing and packaging technologies; advanced biotechnological and nanoscience developments and applications in food research; quality assurance methods and application of -omics techniques; risk assessment of both biological and non-biological hazards in food; food allergies and intolerances; food function and relationships between diet and disease; and consumer attitudes to food and risk assessment.

Issues include a selection of Reviews, Commentaries, Conference Reports and Book Reviews, plus a calendar of upcoming conferences, courses and exhibitions. It does not publish research papers.

The track link in the wx public account is updated with the events of the previous day, around 6:10 am every day. Therefore, it may be slow. After submission, the track email sent by the editorial department is updated in real time.

Can I ask if it is okay to ignore the issue of exceeding 100 references when submitting the paper, and just fill in 100 references directly? In fact, there are already more than 110 references. Can requirements for charts and other similar elements also be ignored?

Additionally, it seems that each editor of this magazine has a different style, and people I know have been influenced by the editor's opinions, but I have not. Also, the track system is a bit delayed. Even after the required review is completed, it still shows as under review. It only reminds me to update after receiving acceptance feedback. Furthermore, for review articles, it is essential to have a high standing and broad coverage. If there is a certain accumulation and profound understanding in the field of the main subject, it should be fine.

6.18 submission
7.15 Major revisions, with a total of four reviewers, one of whom had very sharp comments.
Around 8.17, revisions were completed and the magazine was uploaded.
9.13 Minor revisions were made after the major revisions were sent to four reviewers, but it seems that only 2 of them completed the review. A few days later, the tracking system showed that the editor suddenly invited 14 reviewers, but after waiting for a week, no one accepted the review. Suddenly, an email regarding the minor revisions was received, with comments only from one reviewer.
9.17 Minor revisions were completed and uploaded.
9.19 Under review, the editor also sent it to 2 reviewers.
9.30 Review completed, with comments from only 1 reviewer.
10.2 Received acceptance email.

The first round was given a major revision, and after returning, two people completed the review. However, only one opinion was received. The editor made a small revision, and after the second round of returns, the editor gave it to two more people. Did the first return not receive any opinions from one person? In the author's guidelines, it is noted that journals should not exceed 100 references. The initial draft can be trimmed to below 100 references, and additional references can be added during the later revision stages.

I would like to ask everyone for advice. The author's guide of this journal does not restrict the number of references, but the submission system requires no more than 100 references. However, I have noticed that many recently published articles have more than 100 references. How do they manage to do this? Do they simply ignore this requirement when submitting? I hope experienced seniors can offer some guidance on this matter. Thank you!

Just resubmit after making the changes, worst case scenario is that it will be rejected again. Anyway, if you submit to another journal, you will have to make the modifications according to the current feedback. Try more, more opportunities.
