Food Research International provides a forum for the rapid dissemination of significant novel and high impact research in food science, technology, engineering and nutrition. The journal only publishes novel, high quality and high impact review papers, original research papers and letters to the editors, in the various disciplines encompassing the science and technology of food. It is journal policy to publish special issues on topical and emergent subjects of food research or food research-related areas. Special issues of selected, peer-reviewed papers from scientific meetings, workshops, conferences on the science, technology and engineering of foods will be also published.

The rejections from the journals I have experienced recently have been very quick, and this magazine's first decision was written to be 8 days, but it has been delayed for so long. Submitted on October 8th, with editor the same day, editor is the chief editor.
Sent for review on October 9th.
Returned on November 15th for major revisions. Added an experiment, the rest are minor issues.
Overall, the requirement for innovation is quite high. It's difficult to pass through the editor's evaluation, but once it's sent for review, there is a chance.

The review process was very fast, and the submission was reviewed the next day. The results came back a month later, and then it took half a month for DIP. The journal has always been quite stable, with a stable impact factor and consistent top ranking in Area 1. It's a very good journal.

I returned for rework on November 1st and now I can only wait patiently for the second review. I estimate it will take another month, but I am not in a hurry. As long as the final result is good, it's fine. This journal is not suitable for rushing submissions because most editors are responsible and efficient. It has only been a month and a half since I submitted the manuscript for the second review.

It's best not to rush for the submission, because the final decision lies with the editor-in-chief. Just be patient and there will be a result soon, as it has already gone through the second review.
