Using professional editing services on Angew is a mistake. It is easier for those with good relationships, connections, or from large institutions to get their papers submitted. It's all about face value. As a result, there are many papers with poor quality flooding Angew, making it inferior to many top professional journals, which is disheartening. It doesn't even compare to JACS in terms of quality.

The organic synthesis methodology paper, first submitted to JACS, was not sent for review. It is now very difficult to submit to JACS! Submitted for about three weeks, received review comments. 1 acceptance, 1 rejection, arbitration for major revisions. Editor suggested re-submission, seemed to be in a narrow field, caused controversy among peers. Personal understanding is that controversy brings interest. Although the suggestion was not from a peer, it was targeted and helpful. Revised according to suggestions for about six months, re-submitted, took about 3 weeks to hear back, 2 accepted, 1 raised many questions, not sure if it was the same reviewer. I can only comfort myself with the thought that controversy is interesting. Continuing to conduct experiments, revised for nearly 2 weeks. Currently under review. Personally looking forward to Angew, approaching the Chinese New Year, hoping for a good outcome.
